Willie Wilson is a former pro baseball athlete who, both batted and threw with his right, played as outfielder for the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics and the Chicago Cubs of the Major League Baseball. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from Summit High School in Summit, New Jersey. Wilson's pro baseball career began after he was drafted in the first round by the Kansas City Royals during the 1974 amateur draft and made his professional debut on September 4, 1976 and played for fourteen seasons with the team. Wilson left the Royals following the 1990 season and spent the last remaining years of his career with two seasons in Oakland and parts of two seasons with the Chicago Cubs where he had his final game on May 16, 1994. Wilson retired with a career batting average of .285 and 668 stolen bases. Throughout his pro baseball career, Wilson was a two time All-Star selection in 1982 and 1983, a two time Silver Slugger Award winner, 1980 Gold Glove Award winner and 1985 World Series champion with the Royals, where Wilson had the uncertain distinction of setting a World Series record by striking out twelve times times, including the final out of the Series against Tug McGraw .
