Willie Wattison Horton is a retired professional baseball left fielder and designated hitter who was born on October 18, 1942 in Arno, Virginia. He appeared in a number of Major Baseball League games and also played in the American League. He played baseball at Detroit Western High School and won a city championship with the team. He then joined the major league after his high school career and was named to the All-Star team in 1965. He was also the second player who led the voting for the Most Valuable Player award. According to sources, his strength is a great factor for his good statistics in 1966 which include 100 runs batted in. From 1965 to 1976, he played for 12 regular seasons and was able to record double digit home runs for every season. He played for the 1968 World Series and was the second player in number of bases, slugs and home runs. He recorded a batting average of .304 in the World Series and had a solo home run for the team. He was included the American League All-Star team for four years and made three home runs on June 9, 1970 against the Milwaukee Brewers. He did this once again on May 15 against the Kansas City Royals. He was awarded as the American League's Outstanding Designated Hitter with .279 batting average and 106 runs batted in.
