Wes Walz Autographs
Wesley Walz played professional ice hockey with the position of center. He served as captain of the Minnesota Wild. He was born on May 15, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta. He is now retired. He started his career with the NHL when he was drafted by the Boston Bruins as 57th overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to being drafted, he played for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Western Hockey League. He did not make it as a fulltime NHL player despite his outstanding performance in the rink. He spent his time mostly in the AHL and in 1996 he left for the Swiss league. Upon returning the North America, Walz signed with the Minnesota Wild and was known to be a workhorse and energetic. Because of that he became one of the league's best defensive players and was compared with the likes of Rod Brind' Amour. In November 2007, Walz left the team for personal reasons and was given an indefinite leave of absence. A month later, the Wild announced that Walz will be retiring soon. He retired with good numbers, the leader in the team to be exact, but his numbers has since been surpassed by Marion Gaborick and Nick Schultz. Upon retirement, Walz still worked on the sidelines of hockey, serving as assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2008 to February 2010.
