Currently playing for the San Diego Padres, Scott Hairston is a left fielder in the Major League Baseball. He went to Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson suburb in Arizona. He excelled in playing baseball and received a number of scholarships for college. After he graduated from high school in 199, he decided to enter the Central Arizona College together with high school teammate Ian Kinsler. Hairston joined the 2001 MLB Draft and was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in round three. He was a reserve second baseman during the 2004 season and failed to earn a spot as a starter until he was traded to the San Diego Padres in 2007. Hairston was off to a good start with the San Diego Padres after he was able to hit two homers during his first game with the team. He was able to hit another homer during his second game, a day after. Rather popular with the crowd, Hairston is best known for his clutch homeruns. He has also played for the Mexican team during the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In 2009, Hairston was sent to the Oakland Athletics for the acquisition of Sean Gallagher and two minor leaguers.
