Ryan Ray Franklin was born March 5, 1973 in the town of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a right-hand pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. Ryan Franklin's childhood was spent mostly at Spiro, Oklahoma. He attended Seminole Junior College in Oklahoma and made a record of 20-0 win-loss within two years. Ryan Franklin was chosen and drafted by the team Seattle Mariners at the 1992 amateur draft in the 23rd round, but he prioritized his education. It was only in May 21, 1993 that he signed for his first major league contract. Landed as a full-time player for the Majors in 2001, he spent four years for the Mariners as a starter, garnering a record of 23-44. He was known to be the eighth Major League player to be tested positive for using steroids in sports thus he was suspended for ten days. According to sources, by December 13, 2007, Mitchell Report cited Ryan to the Commissioner of Baseball of an Independent Investigation Into the Illegal Use of Steroids and Other Performance Enhancing Substances by Players in Major League Baseball. Right after the 2005 season, Franklin became a free agent and by 2006, he signed a $2.5 million worth contract with the team Philadelphia Phillies and on that same year he was traded with minor league pitcher Zac Stott of the Cincinnati Reds. The succeeding year he became a team player for the St. Louis Cardinals. He has also been awarded with the 2009 All-Star Game and a winning member during the 2000 Olympics.
