Ron Hextall is a retired professional hockey player of the National Hockey League who is currently serving as the Vice President as well as Assistant General Manager for the Los Angeles Kings. At the same time, Hextall is serving as the General Manager for the Manchester Monarchs, an AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. NHL certainly runs in Hextall's genes. The goaltender is the son of Bryan Hextall Jr. and the grandson of Bryan Hextall who were both former hockey players. He is also the nephew of retired hockey player Dennis Hextall. Hextall played for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League prior to joining the NHL. While playing in the AHL, Hextall was named as the recipient of the Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award during the end of the 1985-86 season. The award honored Hextall as the best rookie player in the league. During the start of the 1986 season, Hextall made the leap to the NHL where he played for the Philadelphia Flyers. In his first season in the league, Hextall received the Vezina Trophy for being the top goaltender in the league. He was also named as the playoffs MVP and received the Conn Smythe Trophy.
