Ronald Clyde “Gardy” Gardenhire is a former Major League Baseball Infielder and is currently managing MLB's Minnesota Twins. He was born on October 24, 1957 in Butzbach, Hesse, West Germany and attended Okmulgee High School in Oklahoma while his college at the University of Texas at Austin. He debuted for MLB on September 1, 1981 for the New York Mets and played as a shortstop, second base and third base. In 1982 and 1984, he was able to play over 70 games in the season. As a player, his statistics include a batting average of .232, 4 home runs and a total of 165 hits. No wonder, according to sources, he made great contributions for his team to bag the AL Central Championship for 5 times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2009). After he retired, he became the manager of the Twins, replacing Tom Kelly.
