Roland Lamar Williams is a retired American football tight end from Rochester, New York. He used to play for the University of Syracuse and was born on April 27, 1975. Williams began in the National Football League when he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 4th round of the 1998 NFL Draft as the 98th pick overall. He was part of the Rams' team that won the Super Bowl XXXIV against the Tennessee Titans . After 3 seasons for the Rams, Williams played for the Oakland Raiders and helped them win the American Football Conference Championship. He then played for a season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers then back to the Raiders before finally suffering a knee injury that ended his career while playing for the Rams again in 2006. According to NFL.com, Williams retired with a record of 114 receptions, 1,004 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns. More than his playing ability, Williams was famous for his stellar character and for being a positive player. He was also known for his charitable works, such as founding the Youth Lifeline America, and achieved many citations for his efforts.
