Rod Woodson is a former American pro football player who hailed from Fort Wayne, Indiana and took his college education attending Purdue University , located in West Lafayette, Indiana. Woodson played as cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League. Woodson played college football during his stay at Purdue University where he primarily played as a kick returner and defensive back, although Woodson also found time on offense as a wide receiver and running back. Woodson began his pro football career after he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 1987 NFL Draft being the first round pick of the team. Woodson is among the leagues all time leaders in games played as a defensive back and holds a league record of twelve interceptions returned for touchdowns. Throughout his sixteen year NFL career, Woodson was an eleven time Pro Bowl selection, a six time All Pro First team selection, two time All Pro Second team selection, Super Bowl champion with the Baltimore Ravens , 1993 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and was a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee in 1999.
