American professional ice hockey goaltender, Rick DiPietro is currently playing for the New York Islanders. He was born on September 19, 1981in Winthrop, Mass, USA. He had played one season with Boston University where he was named to the All-Rookie Team, named Second Team All-Hockey East, hailed as the team's Co-Most Valuable Player, and was also hailed as the Hockey East's Rookie of the Year. It was in 2000 when DiPietro was drafted by the Isles and was the first overall pick of the team. He was the second goaltender to be chosen with the number one overall pick in the National Hockey League Entry Draft. DiPietro was also the fourth American to have such top draft position.
