Cecil Randolph Hundley, Jr. is a retired Major League Baseball player who was born on June 1, 1942 in Martinsville, Virginia. He started playing in the major league after being signed by the San Francisco Giants as and amateur free agent. His Major League Baseball debut was on September 27, 1964 and for his first few rookie season recorded 16 at bats. He was then traded to the Chicago Cubs with which he hit for a cycle on August 11, 1966. He was the fourth finalist in the 1966 National League Rookie of the Year voting and was regarded for his excellent catches. In 1967, he won the Golden Glove Award and has set National League records for committing a low number of errors with only four. He appeared in 160 games for the Cubs in 1968 wherein he completed 147. He is known as one of the few players who have caught in 150 games for three consecutive years. He was included in the 1969 National League All-Star team for his significant contributions to the team's pennants. However, he started losing his tough skills after an injury in 1970. In 1974, he played for the Minnesota Twins and for the San Diego Padres in 1975. He came back to play for the Chicago Cubs in 1976 and ended his Major League Baseball career on September 25, 1977. According to statistics, he played 1, 061 games and gathered 813 career hits and .236 batting average. He made 381 runs batted in and 12 stolen bases.
