Philip Ramond Regan is a former professional baseball pitcher who batted and threw right-handed. Regan who is commonly called as “The Vulture” was made his debut in the Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers in July 19, 1960. The Detroit Tigers are a MLB team based in Detroit, Michigan, one of the American League's eight character franchise. It was founded in 1984 and won 4 World Series. Phil Regan was from Otsego, Michigan and went to High School at Wayland Union High School, where he got varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball from 1951-1955. Playing professionally, he was a starting and relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1960-1965), Los Angeles Dodgers (1966-1968), Chicago Cubs (1968-1972) and a very short time with the Chicago White Sox (1972). His best season came with the Dodgers in 1966. After playing for the Chicago Cubs, he made his last MLB appearance for the Chicago White Sox on July15, 1972. He set a good statistic records in his career as a player by having a pitching record of 96-81, earned run average of 3.84 with 743 strikeouts and 92 saves. ‘The Vulture” did not stop his passion for baseball. After he retired, he began his coaching career in 1973. He was the head coach at Grand Valley State University until 1982. He was also the instructor for the Seattle Mariners in 1983, a scout for Los Angeles Dodgers and a pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians in 1994. He served as the manager for the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angele Dodgers, and managed different teams in the Venezuela Winter League.
