Pedro Ramos was a former professional baseball player. He was born in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba. Ramos was a pitcher in the Major League with a 15-year career from 1955 to 1967, and again from 1969 to 1970. Ramos played with several teams including, Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds. In 1959, Ramos was chosen to the American League All-Star team. Ramos began his professional career in the Major League Baseball after he signed a contract as amateur free agent with the Washington Senators in 1953. He was listed at 6 ft. and 175 lbs. Posted as pitcher, Ramos threw with his right and batted with both of his hands. Ramos made his professional debut with the Washington Senators on April 11, 1955. Ramos joined the Minnesota Twins in 1961, and a year later was traded to the Cleveland Indians for Vic Power and Dick Stigman. On September 5, 1964 Ramos was dealt by the Cleveland Indians to the New York Yankees for players later to be named and $75,000 cash consideration. As a starter for most of his career, Ramos became an unexpected sensation after being traded to the Yankees. In his 13 appearances for the Yankees, Ramos saved eight games and posted a 1.25 earned-run average. Ramos had his last game playing for the Washington Senators on April 25, 1970.
