Nate Wright is a former American professional football athlete who played as cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League. Wright was born on December 21, 1947 in Madison, Florida and graduated from Monterey high school in Monterey, California. He then took his college education when he attended the Monterey Peninsula College located in Monterey before he transferred to San Diego State University . Wright played college football in both schools that he attended. Wright was an outstanding roster in his college career was an All-Conference player for two years at San Diego State University. Wright, who stands 5 ft. 11 in. and weigh in at 180 lbs., began his pro football career in the National Football League after he was drafted out from college by the Atlanta Falcons in 1969. Wright was a defensive player and was well known for the infamous Hail Mary pass during the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoff Game between the Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys on December 28, 1975. During his pro football career, Wright earned All-Pro honors at defensive back for two seasons, one in 1974 and another in 1976. His career seasons consisted mostly of time as a defensive back with the Vikings in the 1970s. Wright totaled thirty four interceptions and three fumble recoveries in his hundred and fifty six games.
