Robertson was born in Wichita, Kansas and attended Wichita State University where he took his college studies. Using both hands, Robertson bats using his right and pitches as a left-hander. Robertson made his debut in the majors on September 7, 2002. A year after his debut with the Marlins, he was dealt to the Detroit Tigers in January 2003. And on March 2010, Robertson was traded back to the Marlins for a player later to be named, according to sources.
