Mitchell Otis Page is a retired Major League Baseball player who was born on October 15, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. He played as a designated hitter and left fielder for the Oakland Athletics and the Pittsburgh Pirates. According to reviews, he started to gain popularity as a professional baseball athlete after he posted a .307 batting average and scored 21 home runs for the Oakland Athletics. He also recorded 75 runs batted in with the team in the 1977 season which was his first rookie season. Because of his impressive statistics in his first rookie year, he was named second place in the Rookie of the Year Award by the American League. In that season, the award was bagged by Eddie Murray. In 1984, he joined the Pittsburgh Pirates and played his last few games with the team. In his entire Major League Baseball career, he appeared in 637 games and recorded 560 hits, 72 home runs and 259 runs batted in. He posted .266 batting average and made 500 mistakes. At present, Page is the hitting instructor of the minor league club. He is currently on leave as the Washington Nationals' hitting coach.
