Mike Gminski is a retired professional basketball player. He went to Masuk High School in Monroe, Connecticut where he played basketball. Gmisnki proceeded to enroll in Duke University. He played for the Duke Blue Devils and was the leader in scores during his third and fourth years in college. During his first year of playing basketball, he was named as the ACC Rookie of the Year. He was named into the first-team of the All-ACC for every year that he played basketball. In 1979, he was named as the ACC Player of the Year. Gminksi was selected to be part of the AP All-American of the second team in 1979 and 1980. In 1979, he was named into the UPI All-American first team and the second-team in 1980. Gminski graduated from Duke as the front runner for career points, rebounds and blocked shots. He ranks seventh in the ACC list for points and rebounds and sixth for blocked shots. Gminski is considered as one of the 50 Atlantic Coast Conference Great All-Time players. During the 1980 NBA Draft, he was selected by the New Jersey Nets. He was the seventh overall pick.
