Mike Flanagan is a retired Major League Baseball player who became active in the 1970s to the 1990s. He chose to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he played both basketball and baseball. And while he graduated from Harvard University, he played for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Summer Baseball League in summer. In the 1973 MLB Draft, Flanagan was selected by the Baltimore Orioles but it would be in 1975 when he would play his first MLB game. In 1978, Flanagan played in the All-Star Game and was award the Cy Young Award in 1979. The 1979 season proved to be his best with a record of 23 wins to 9 losses and an earned run average of 3.08. Flanagan was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 1987 where he was a starting pitcher but was converted into a reliever in 1990. He became a free agent and decided to return to the Orioles and pitched a no-hitter during the 1991 season. After the 1992 season, Flanagan retired from playing baseball. Flanagan was named the 1979 AL TSN Pitcher of the Year and helped the Orioles with the 1983 World Series Victory.
