Matt Williams is a former American pro baseball athlete who hailed from Bishop, California. Williams threw and batted with his right and played as third baseman for a few teams in the Major League Baseball; the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians and the Arizona Diamondbacks . Williams was originally drafted by the New York Mets out of Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada. However, Williams was not able to sign a formal agreement and he was instead drafted by the San Francisco Giants and made his debut with the team on April 11, 1987. Williams spent most of his pro career with the Giants playing for ten seasons. After leaving the Giants at the conclusion of the 1996 seasons, Williams joined the Cleveland Indians and play for a single 1997 season. He then joined the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998 up to his last game with the team on May 31, 2003. Throughout his seventeen season career, Williams garnered numerous career highlights namely; being a five time All-Star selection, being part of the Diamondbacks as the 2001 World Series champions, four time Gold Glove Award winner and four time Silver Slugger Award winner.
