Mark Wohlers Autographs
Mark Edward Wohlers is a retired baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He throws and bats right- handed and hails from Holyoke, Massachusetts. He held the record for being the fastest known pitcher in baseball history until it was surpassed by Joel Zumaya of the Detroit Tigers. He was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 8th round of the 1988 amateur draft. Wohlers started his professional career with the Atlanta Braves in 1991, making his debut on August 17, 1991 in a game against the San Diego Padres. Not even a month after that stint, he joined his teammates Kent Mercker and Alejandro Peņa for a combined no- hitter again while playing against the Padres. He made a name for himself as one of the best closers in the major leagues when he played a crucial role in the Braves' win against the Cleveland Indians in the 1995 World Series. His team made it again to the World Series for the following season but Wohlers' spotty performance cost them the title against the New York Yankees. He spent the next seasons with different teams such as the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians . He never came back to baseball after the 2003 season because of an injury.
