Mark Prior is a professional baseball player who comes from San Diego, California. He is a product of the University of San Diego High School where he played as a baseball varsity athlete. He joined the Major League Baseball in 1998 after he was chosen by the New York Yankees in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Before playing professionally, he had a stellar college career at University of Southern California. He joined the Chicago Cubs in the 2001 season and signed a deal with the team. He had the third highest votes in the Cy Young Award of the National League and made significant contributions for the team's success. He was supposed to take part in the All-Star Game that year but unfortunately, he had an injury which prevented him from playing. After recovery from the injury, he went on in playing well for the Cubs and was even termed as the “Chicago Heat' together with Kerry Wood. He stayed with the Cubs until the 2006 season but had to leave the organization after sustaining an injury. In 2007, he signed a deal with the San Diego Padres but was again plagued by an injury. As of the 2008 season, he was able to record 42-49 win-loss ratio and made 757 strikeouts. He was also able to log an earned run average of 3.51.
