Larry Wilson is a retired American pro football athlete who played as free safety for the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League throughout his entire thirteen season playing career from 1960 up to 1972. Wilson was born in Rigby, Idaho and took his college education when he attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Wilson began his career in pro football after he was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the 1960 NFL Draft. After originally playing as a cornerback, Wilson switched to free safety, and it was here that he found his place on the team. During the 1966 season, in seven consecutive games, Wilson had at least one interception en route to a ten pick season that led his league. Wilson is popular for not only playing, but intercepting passes as well with casts on both hands because of broken wrists. Throughout his NFL career, Wilson have earned numerous career highlights such as being an eight time Pro Bowl selection and eight time All-Pro selection and was also NFL 1960s and NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, he was also Arizona Cardinals' Career Interceptions Leader. Wilson served in the coaching staff of the Cardinals 1979 and became the franchise's general manager from 1980 to 1993.
