Larry Darnell Herndon was born on November 3, 1953 in Sunflower, Mississippi. He is a retired professional baseball player who joined the Major Baseball League in 1974 to play for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the San Francisco Giants in 1976 and stayed with the team until 1981. In 1982, he moved to the Detroit Tigers with which he spent the last few years of his professional playing career. Herndon is a great player who received the 1981 Willie Mac Award for his strong determination and sense of leadership. He appeared in the World Series in 1984 and had a final out in a game and also achieved his solo home run during those years.
