Kip Wells is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in Houston, Texas and was a graduate from Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas. He took his college education when he attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Throughout his eleven season career, Wells played for numerous teams in the Major League Baseball; the Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Washington Nationals and the Cincinnati Reds. Wells is 6 ft. 3 in. and 205 lb. He both batted and threw with his right. He began his professional baseball career after he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 1998 amateur draft where he was a first round pick of the team. Wells made his pro debut the following year on August 2, 1999. In his debut versus the Detroit Tigers , Wells went 5.1 innings, giving up six hits, two runs and a single earned run while walking two and having four striking outs for his first Major League victory. After his three seasons with Chicago, Wells was dealt to the Pittsburgh Pirates after the 2001 season. During his stint with Pittsburgh, Wells once hit a 550 ft. home run to dead center field at PNC Park. Wells had his last game in the 2009 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.
