Kenneth Robert Rosewall is a retired professional tennis player from Sydney, Australia. He had a very famous backhand and has been considered as one of the best male tennis players in the world. His agility and deadly volley made him a very good player and his sliced backhand shot, along with a different backhand style by Don Budge , is regarded as one of the best if not the best backhands. As a teenager, Rosewall has already shown great playing abilities. He joined the 1950 New South Wales Metropolitan Championships and was overpowered by the then already world- class player Ken McGregor. He also participated in the US Championships in 1952 and whitewashed top- seeded Vic Seixas before he lost against Gardnar Mulloy. At 18 years of age, Rosewall alradyd won the Australian Championship, the French Championship, and the Pacific Southwest Championship. He was a favorite at Wimbledon before he was upset by Kurt Nielsen. He was able to play with famous players then such as Tony Trabert , Jaroslav Drobny, Pancho Gonzalez, Frank Sedgman, Pancho Segura, Jack Kramer, among others. Aside from playing singles, he was also famous in doubles play along with Lew Hoad and they were even dubbed as “Whiz Kids”. He had Grand Slams in the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. He was inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1980.
