Ken Raffensberger is a former American professional baseball player. Raffensberger was born in York, Pennsylvania. He attended his high school education in William Penn High School also in the State of Pennsylvania. Raffensberger, posed as pitcher, was listed at 6 ft. 2 in. and 185 lbs. He used his right hand for batting and throwing. Before the 1937 seasons, Raffensberger signed as an amateur free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals . Raffensberger made his debut on April 25, 1939. He began his career as a fastball pitcher, predominantly gaining achievement with his rising fastball. On December 27, 1939, Raffensberger was traded to the Chicago Cubs for Gene Lillard, Steve Mesner and some cash considerations. Towards the later conclusion of his career, however, which started in the early 40s, Raffensberger developed a reliable forkball to match his fastball, slow curve, and change. He had one of the widest arrays of deliveries in the Major League that ranges from underhand to overhand and a diversity of side arm and three-quarter deliveries in between. On September 4, 1943, Reffensberger, along with Rip Russell were traded to the Philadelphia Blue Jays for Dick Conger and Andy Karl. However, sources said that Andy Karl refused to report to his new team. On June 14, 1944, Raffensberger was traded to the Cincinnati Reds together with Hugh Poland for Al Lakeman.
