Alegria High School and threw and batted left- handed. Rosado turned pro when he was picked by the Kansas City Royals in the 12th round of the 1994 MLB Amateur Draft. He signed with the team on June 8, 1994 and made his MLB debut in the major leagues on June 12, 1996 in a game against the Texas Rangers which the Royals won. Rosado spent his entire career playing for Kansas and made it to the American League All- Star team twice. He was also the winning pitcher in the 1997 MLB All- Star game. His last appearance as a player was on April 30, 2000 in a game against the Seattle Mariners that the Royals won.
