John Karl Wetteland was born in August 21, 1966. He came from San Mateo, California. A pitcher who played for teams such as Los Angeles Dodgers , Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, and the Texas Rangers. He serves as the bullpen coach for the Seattle Mariner. He was signed by the Dodgers at 1985 in amateur round. He was later claimed by the Detroit Tigers as rule 5 Draft pick but soon he returned to the Pacific coast with the Dodgers. Wetteland made his Major League debut on May 31, 1989. He requested transfer to bullpen after struggling in his first five starts and became a full-time closer. John was traded twice: first with the Cincinnati Reds , and to the Expos. In 1995 he was traded to the Yankees. In 1996 he led the American League in saves with 43 and appeared in the All-Star game. He was given with World Series MVP Award after recording maximum saves possible in the single series. He was also awarded with the Rolaids Relief Man Award. John left the Yankees as a free agent and joined the Texas Rangers. He received the Rolaids Reliever of the Decade after earning the most number of saves during the 1900's.
