John Thadeuz Halama was born on February 22, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York. He is a Major League Baseball player who first appeared in the league on April 2, 1998 for the Houston Astros. He was picked to play for MLB after being a baseball star in St. Francis College and the Bishop Ford High School in New York. After his stint with the Astros, he joined the Seattle Mariners in the middle of the 1998 season. He made a 41-game win with the Mariners and had 14 total wins in the 2000 season. He signed as a free agent for the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Nationals. He left the Major League after playing for more than seven seasons and went to Pacific Coast League in 2001. Halama also joined the Atlantic League in 2007 and became part of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in 2008. Halama signed a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians on June 5, 2008. He was designated to play for the Indians' Triple-A Buffalo Bisons and opted free agency at the last part of the season. He had another contract with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and made an 8-1 win-loss record and an earned run average of 2.38. His contract with the Blue Crabs was purchased by the Atlanta Braves in 2009. He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers before he became part of his current team, the Oakland Athletics.
