Jay Gibbons is a professional baseball player. He is a current outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He has appeared in the Major League Baseball as well as in different minor leagues. Gibbons went to Mayfair High School and attended California State University in Los Angeles. Gibbons participated in the 1998 Amateur Draft and was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays. He played for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in the Pioneer League Triple Crown. He was drafted by theBaltimore Orioles in 2000. He made his debut in the MLB for the Baltimore Orioles during the 2001 season. For his rookie season, he was able to hit 15 homeruns and the 28 homeruns in the next season and was named as the team MVP. After undergoing LASIK eye surgery, Gibbons was able to hit 26 homeruns during the 2005 season. Gibbons was released by the Orioles in 2008 after his poor performance during that season's spring training. He signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League and was offered a minor league contract by the Milwaukee Brewers a month after. Gibbons went on to play for Huntsville Stars and then Nashville. Gibbons is currently playing for the Albuquerque Isotopes, a Triple-A affiliate of the Dodgers.
