Gordie Roberts, born as Gordon Roberts is a former professional hockey player who hails from Detroit, Michigan. He served as an ice hockey defenseman for a few teams in the National Hockey League. He started his hockey career in the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League in which he played for the Detroit Jr. Red Wings. He started his professional career with the Montreal Canadiens which selected him in the National Hockey League Amateur Draft and before that he was seen in the World Hockey Association for the team New England Whalers. After his stint with the Canadiens, he was sent to the Minnesota Stars via trade that made Mike Filder a part of the Canadiens. He then joined the Philadelphia Flyers in 1988 and was traded to the St. Louis Blues . He was only able to play eleven games for the Flyers. He was also part of the Team USA that competed in the Canada Cup in 1984. He was also seen in the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1982 and in the 1987 season. He had two Stanley Cups, one in 1991 and the other in 1992, both for the Pittsburgh Penguins . After his National Hockey League career, he had a short stint in the International Hockey League for the Chicago Wolves. He was inducted to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999.
