Geremi Segundo Gonzalez Acosta, born on January 8, 1975 was a professional baseball player who played for several teams in the Major Baseball League. Born in Macaraibo, Zulia, he was first signed by the Chicago Cubs in 1991. He started playing for the Major League on May 27, 1997 and recorded an 11-9 pitch record. This made him recognized as National League's Rookie of the Year. After spending his first MLB seasons with the Cubs, he became a player for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays where he consistently became a pitcher. With the Rays, he made a record of 3.91 earned run average and in 156 innings, he made 97 strikeouts. In 2005, he joined the Boston Red Sox and became part of the first game of AL division Series. The next year, he played with the New York Mets but reviews say it was not a good season for Gonzalez. That same season, he was traded to another team, the Milwaukee Brewers. In his entire MLB career, he was bale to make 354 strikeouts and an earned run average of 4.93. He appeared in 131 games which includes four complete ones and 83 starts. In 2007, he was signed by the Yomiuri Giants for the Japan's Central League. Geremi passed away on May 25, 2008.
