Dusty Rhodes was a former Major League Baseball player who was born as James Lamar Rhodes in Mathews, Alabama. He batted with his left hand and is a right-handed thrower. Before he made it to the major league, he had a few years spent in the minor league where he showed great potential. He was drafted to play in the Major League Baseball by the New York Giants which he joined in 1952. He had his entire Major League Baseball career with the team and had made remarkable contributions to the team. He was part of the World Series battle of the New York Giants in the 1954 season. He was instrumental for the team to win the game with a home run which he pinch hit in the first game of the series. He was able to hit a home run again in the next game against Early Wynn which ensured the victory of the New York Giants. He left the New York Giants in 1957 and signed with the team's franchise, the San Francisco Giants in the 1959 season. That year was his last in the Major League Baseball. After he retired from professional baseball, he was employed by a friend in a tug boat and spent 25 years in the said job. His Major League Baseball career ended with .253 batting average and 54 home runs. He also recorded 207 runs batted in and made his final appearance on September 27, 1959. He received the Babe Ruth Award in 1954 for his magnificent performances in the league.
