Christopher Reitsma, popularly known as Chris Reitsma, is a professional baseball player who hails from Minnesota. He bats and throws with his right hand and started his Major League Baseball appearance on April 1, 2001. He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the Major League Baseball draft of the 1996 season but he appeared for the first time in MLB with the Cincinnati Reds . After a three-season stint with the Reds, he played for the Atlanta Braves where he played 84 games. He was assigned as the team's closer and made 15 saves in his seasons with the team. After his stint with the Braves, he joined the Seattle Mariners which he signed on Decmeber 12, 2006. He played in the minor league teams of the Mariners and was soon invited to a spring training of the team. Aside from his appearances in the Major League Baseball, he also played for the Canadian baseball team which appeared in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 season. As a player, many reviews say he uses three kinds of pitches, the fastball, a changeup and the curveball. Chris is also active in his charitable works for the handicapped. He became the spokesperson of a Parkinson's organization. He also founded the Reitsma Relievers which helpd the youth and poor families.
