Bucky Harris Autographs
Stanley Raymond Harris was a professional baseball player who appeared in Major Baseball League. Popularly known as Bucky Harris, he was born on November 8, 1968 in Port Jervis, New York. Joe Engel, who managed the Chattanooga Lookouts, noticed his playing skills and not long after, Harris started to play for the Washington Senators. However, reviews say his beginning was a mediocre performance with .214 bating average and appeared in only eight games in his first rookie season. Regardless of this meager statistics, he was still included in the 1920 roster of the team as a second baseman. He showed great improvement and posted a batting average of .300. In 1924, aside from playing for the Washington Senators, he also managed the team and was the youngest manager in the major league that time. He helped the Senators reach the World Series Championship in his first season as a player and was regarded by William C. Kashatus as an excellent player. Other teams he played for and managed at the same time are the Detroit Tigers in 1928, the Boston Red Sox in 1934 and the Philadelphia Phillies in 1943. He was the manager of the New York Yankees in 1947 when they won the World Championship. He spent 29 years in the baseball industry, his last season being with the Detroit Tigers. He was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975 by the Veterans Committee. On November 8, 1977, Bucky Harris died at the age of 81 years.
