He was born on March 11, 1982 in Tucson, Arizona and was actually named Brian Nikola Anderson. Anderson was a graduate of the University of Arizona and Canyon del Oro High School in Oro Valley, Arizona- a suburb of Tucson. He was designated the top pro prospect in Arizona in which he ranked 27th in the nation by the baseball America. It was also the Baseball America together with the USA Today Second-Team All-America who labeled him as a junior. He had his career debut on August 16, 2005 where he appeared 13 games for the Chicago White Sox. Anderson was tasked to be the starting center-fielder for the team since Aaron Rowand was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies with Jim Throme. Anderson showed a very good performance in 2006 and has demonstrated a remarkable potential as a defensive outfielder even if he has struggled offensively. It was on May 20, 2006 when Anderson was expelled from an inter league game with the Chicago Cubs when he fought with the Cubs' first baseman, John Mabry. Anderson was unfortunately fined and he served a five game suspension. After that incident, Anderson has strived hard to bat beyond average and was able to accomplish .323 batting while maintaining a .469 slugging percentage in July 2006.
