Brad Wilkerson is a retired American pro baseball athlete who hails from Owensboro, Kentucky and graduated from Apollo High School located in Owensboro. He took his college studies at the University of Florida . Before he was able to make it in the majors, Wilkerson played both in the minors and the junior league where he played for the national junior team in 1995. He was both a pitcher as well as a hitter and was the MVP of the World Junior Baseball Championship. Wilkerson had a tough time during his initial seasons at the minor leagues. Despite of his hardships in his first minor seasons, while coming up through the minor's ladder, Wilkerson became a member of the gold-medalist USA baseball team in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Wilkerson batted and threw left handed and began his pro baseball career after he was drafted by the Montreal Expos of the Major League Baseball during the 1998 amateur draft being the first round pick of the team. He made his debut on July 12, 2001. After leaving the Expos in 2005, Wilkerson joined other teams in the league, the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. He had his final game with the Blue Jays on September 28, 2008.
