Floyd Robert Ross is a retired professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He is from Fullerton, California and was born on November 2, 1928. He attended San Jose State College . He was an orthodox hitter and a southpaw thrower. Bob Ross began his professional baseball career when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers as an undrafted amateur free agent before the 1945 season. He was then selected by the Washington Senators on December 5, 1949 from the Dodgers in the 1949 minor league draft. He finally made his MLB debut on June 16, 1950 at age 21. This was in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals which the Dodgers won. Then approximately on September 20, 1955, his rights were purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies. He last appeared in a game for the Phillies on May 8, 1956 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Some of the teams he played against during his 3- season career were the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox , and the Detroit Tigers. Throughout his career, he played in a total of 20 games and has a 7.17 earned run average.
