Robert Anton Grim, popularly known as Bob Grim, was born on March 8, 1930. He was a former Major League Baseball Player who had his debut on April 18, 1954. He was signed by the New York Yankees and played wearing jersey number 55. As a rookie, he was able to make 20 wins, the first in MLB rookie history since 1910, and failed only 6 games. For his first season, he had an earned run average of 3.26 which made him the American League Rookie of the Year. With the Yankees, he joined the 1955 World Series against Brooklyn Dodgers and the 1957 World Series against Milwaukee Braves. Statistics reveal that in 1957, he led the American League in number of saves with 19 and was named to the All-Star in that same year. Together with Harry Simpson, he was signed with the Kansas City Athletics on June 15, 1958 and was given number 34 uniform. After two years, he was transferred to Cleveland Indians via trade and played with jersey number 26. Cincinnati Reds bought his contract not long after being signed with the Indians and was again purchased by St. Louis Cardinals. He went into free agency in 1962 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He last played for MLB on May 24, 1962 and finished his MLB career with 61-41 win-loss record, 3.61 ERS and 443 strikeouts. Grim died on October 23, 1996 in Shawnee, Kansas.
