William Thomas Romanowski is a retired professional American football player from Vernon, Connecticut. He was born on April 2, 1966 and was nicknamed “Romocop”. He attended Rockville High School and Boston College , graduating with academic honors and the Scanlan Award. Romocop began his pro career when he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1988 National Football league Entry Draft. In his first year playing for the49ers, he was a tremendous help in the team's berth for Super Bowl XXIII against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also a part of the 49ers team that won Super Bowl XXIV against the Denver Broncos . After spending 5 seasons with the 49ers, he was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles then to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos won 2 consecutive Super Bowl tilts with him, one against the Green Bay Packers and another against the Atlanta Falcons. He then was sent to the Oakland Raiders and participated in Super Bowl XXXVII which they lost against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is the only linebacker in the NFL history to start 5 Super Bowls, and has been named to the Pro Bowl selection twice. Upon retirement, he joined the movies and coached his son's football team in Piedmont high school. He retired with 1,105 tackles, 39.5 sacks, 18 forced tumbles, and 18 interceptions.
