Aaron Ryan Rowand presently plays as a center fielder for the San Francisco Giants in the Major League Baseball. He throws and bats right- handed and attended Glendora High School and went to college at the California State University Fullerton. Rowand was then selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 1st round of the 1998 MLB amateur draft as the 35th pick overall. He made his debut on June 16, 2001 in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals . He made his first hit in the majors in a game against the Kansas City Royals just a few days after his debut. He spent some of the 20003 season in the minors and returned to the major leagues after 32 minor league games. He was part of the White Sox team that won the 2005 World Series against the Houston Astros . On November 2005, he was traded off to the Philadelphia Phillies. He played well against the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs though he suffered injuries. In 2007, he was named to his first All- Stars, won the Gold Glove Award, and finished with good numbers. By 2007, Rowand signed with the San Francisco Giants and in 2009 made his 1,000th career hit against the Philadelphia Phillies. At present, he has a batting average of .278 with 127 home runs and 504 runs batted in.
